The secret to living long and in perfect shape? According to 100-year-old yoga teacher Kazim Gürbüz, it’s daily yoga and a healthy and strict diet. You wouldn’t believe it from the photos, but Kazim was born in Adana (southern Turkey) in 1920.
Nobody believes him when he reveals his true age. With a sculpted and flexible body, the yoga master is firmly convinced that: “you can live up to 130 years if you cling to the right choices.”
So maybe if you think you’re not young or flexible enough to start practicing yoga, there’s still time to change your mind.
“In life nothing is impossible. When you wake up in the morning, think that this will be the best day of your life and it really will be ”.
According to Kazim Gürbüz, to live well you have to take care of yourself. Every morning at dawn the man goes swimming and performs a series of complex asanas. He says he has a very active sex life and is able to hold his breath for 4/5 minutes .
“I feel just as I did when I was 25 or 30,” says the yoga instructor.
His lifestyle choices include constant exercise and a healthy diet made of peppers, fruit, soup, honey and herbal teas.
“Meat has no place in my diet, I get protein only from vegetable sources,” he adds.
Kazim had a bad accident when he was 41 years old, fracturing his back: the lower part of his spine was paralyzed. There was a time when there was no certainty that he could go back to walking. But he didn’t give up and nine months later he was already on his feet.
“The human mind has incredible strength, it can regenerate muscles and the nervous system,” he explains.
